We are looking for a Rail Infrastructure Operations Intern. This position will be based at our Alpharetta area branch located in Georgia.

During your summer journey with us, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Manufacturing Operations where you will learn how to work with business process excellence professionals, project managers, engineers, manufacturing experts to learn about how software programming is implemented in a factory environment through shadowing and the assignment of relevant tasks to build up your practical knowledge.

A little bit about us...

Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail - including rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.

How does manufacturing operations play into the big picture?

Manufacturing operations is responsible for all aspects of the supply chain culminating in the production of the traction drive systems for Heavy and Light Rail transportation vehicles. The products manufactured at our Alpharetta, GA. factory is shipped to our locomotive and car manufacturing facility for integration into the final product.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Learn about our standard processes
  • Work with business process excellence professionals, project managers, engineers, manufacturing experts to learn about how software programming is implemented in a factory environment through shadowing and the assignment of relevant tasks to build up your practical knowledge.
  • Interface with different areas of the manufacturing operations department and learn about how collaboration drives success
  • Gain insight into manufacturing operations digitalization essentials related to activities such as: project definition, project scope, ideation, risk assessment, stakeholder analysis, project execution, UX/UI, SQL Database, and working with languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, HTML, CSS.

      Who Should Apply?

      • Must be pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer or similar from an accredited college or university
      • Availability: 40 hours per week from June to August
      • Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
      • Prior internship or co-op experience (preferred) with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0
      • Demonstrated leadership potential
      • Strong analytical, writing, presentation, and critical-thinking skills
      • Interest in learning about the rail industry - project management, customer service operations, manufacturing, etc.
      • Fluent in Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS

        You'll benefit from:

        The hourly pay range for this position is $18 - $24 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
